Seventh Framework Programme - Capacities EU Funding

Currently there is a gradual alienation regarding participation and social and environmental responsibility on the part of everyone in the community.

Tons of solid waste are currently being produced, much of which is organic waste. Although a large portion of organic waste can now be recovered, it is still being taken to landfills. Despite the awareness-raising constantly being undertaken with the populace, this problem is transversal to contemporary societies. This organic waste becomes a source of environmental problems, as it could cause contaminations to ground water.

Thus, industrial composting appears as one of the best ways to solve the problem of organic waste. Composting is understood as the set of techniques used for controlling the decomposition of organic materials, so that a stable material rich in humus and mineral nutrients can be obtained in the shortest amount of time possible.
